Sculptural long natural black diamonds 0.71 ctw cross set in hand brushed 18K Yellow Gold. This pendant includes a clip-on wide clasp bail to fit any chain or leather cord. Named after the Cristo Negro in the church of Santa María located in Valle de Bravo, México.
It is said that the crucifix has its origin in the syncretism of Spanish and Aztec culture. The ancient Aztecs associated the color black with Tezcatlipoca, the god of heaven and earth. Some suggest that the color was used by the Spanish so the natives could associate more easily with the divinity of Jesus Christ. There are many famous crucifix depicting Cristo Negro, the two most well known in Mexico are in Valle de Bravo, another in the Church of San Roman in Campeche.
Black Christs figures dating hundreds of years old (and with origins unknown) have been venerated in Lucca and Sicualiana, Italy; Manila in Philippines; and Portobello, Panamá.

We are confident our pieces are crafted to the highest quality. However, as our jewelry is meant to be worn and enjoyed, over time you may accidentally lose a precious stone, or require resizing. We are happy to assist you, and we will give you a quote for replacement. Repair time will vary between 3-4 weeks. We reserve the right to decline unreasonable repairs.
